I remember being little and always seeing my Opa with a camera around his neck. Always snapping away at every little moment. I admired it. I don’t know why. Maybe it was the act of documenting or it was how amazing a 35mm looked to the naked eye. I’m really not sure…
He has given up the drive, and seemingly I have inherited it. We don’t see the world the same way. The way I see it is I must not live in the shadow that he made but rather create my own. Challenge everything. Re-write the stories that already exist. Appropriation is the new originality. It is my time to impress my future grandchildren and the only way to do that is by impressing myself.
